GirlCratery Launches Handmade Gifts Boxes & DIY Activity Crates For Girls

The purpose of the new gift boxes is primarily to encourage independence, to empower young girls, and to teach them the value of kindness. GirlCratery believes that, rather than just buying an off-the-shelf toy, selecting their gift boxes is a way to inspire girls to become their best selves.

The non-profit group behind GirlCratery believes that it has never been more difficult to raise young girls between five and eleven years of age – and that these girls will grow up to occupy a challenging and complex world. As such, they believe that for gift-giving occasions it is essential to give them more than a toy, but a tool that can help equip them for a bright and happy future.

They have created their gift boxes to be both fun and educational, and each one contains the prompts for a varied set of activities which will encourage traits like independence, adventurousness, creativity and confidence.

GirlCratery knows that families often raise their girls differently from the way they raise their boys, and that they tend to shelter and protect them, which can lead to them becoming shyer when it comes to exploring and trying new things. As such, they have also made their gift boxes to be a fun corrective.

All the projects the gift boxes prompt can be completed individually or amongst sister or friendship duos, trios or groups.

Interested gift givers can select from activity crates as diverse as their The Gadgets and Gizmos Crate, which contains DIY projects like a make-your-own scribble bot kit and make-your-own catapult kit, and their The Jewelry Crate, which has activities for bracelet making, metal stamping and bead lacing.

GirlCratery’s gift boxes can be purchased on a one-off basis or shoppers can opt to purchase their favorite young girl a three-month subscription to their activity crates.

A spokesperson for the girls’ education experts said, “Each crate we assemble is built with girl input. We test the ideas out with real girls, ages 5-11, and pack our crates with products and programming to support the theme. Our goal is to let them explore on their own or to spend time with an older sibling, parent, or caregiver, doing something together.”
